Everyone wants to hire winners, but not everyone does.
Quite often, I see companies, big and small, waiting too long before hiring, then feeling pressured to hire quickly.
Dave Ramsey, in his book “Entreleadership”, shares that his company will often take 6-8 MONTHS to hire a new team member. They want to make sure they have the right person for the position and for their company. They will often have the candidates go through half a dozen or more interviews and they ALWAYS use the DISC Profile to guide them in the process.
The only way you can take so long to hire is to begin the process early. The earlier you recognize that a new employee will be necessary in the future, the sooner you can begin the process of finding the right person.
By knowing far in advance that you will be adding a team member, you can clarify the role that will be filled and develop the KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators). "Be Prepared" is the motto of the Boy Scouts, and for good reason. When you are prepared, your anxiety is relieved.
When you know what the KPI’s are for a job, you can easily understand what personality type will best fill the role. By using the DISC Profile, you can narrow down your search quickly by simply eliminating the candidates who’s profile doesn’t match the needs of the job.
Utilizing the DISC Profile in your hiring process can save you both time and money. The more you understand the motivations of your team, the better you can find a candidate that will fit in.
This saves you time in the selection process by narrowing your search parameters. This also saves money in the long run because hiring the wrong person costs money. Training the wrong person for the job is a waste of time and money.
